A Woman's Place Inc.

Greeley, Colorado

Our Mission

We are a 24/7 emergency shelter for those experiencing domestic violence. A Woman's Place offers both residential and non-residential services that include advocacy, legal support, counseling, outreach, safety planning, children/youth programs, parenting support and translation services. A Woman's Place does not discriminate against any person because of race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal or state law.

Who We Are

A Woman's Place was founded in 1977 by a group of local men and women who recognized the need for intervention for victims of domestic violence in our area. Initially, AWP consisted of a crisis hotline (the same number that we have today) but it was clear that the needs within our community were for a safe house. In 1978, AWP became a non-profit. The shelter is a donation of an older home by the Greeley Urban Renewal Authority. The shelter opened its doors in 1981. A renovation/addition completed in 2003 doubled the size of our shelter. AWP offers universal access accommodations for clients with disabilities.
