Our Mission

Passion Statement: “Go, visit the Holocaust Survivors. Hug, kiss and love them; tell them I love them.” With these words burning in her heart, Susan Heagy began visiting Survivors of the Shoah, bringing hope and compassion to many who were alone and forgotten. Susan, and those who joined her in her efforts, soon discovered an entire segment of the population starved for relationship and the loving touch of someone who cared. These people were bereft of family members through the brutality of the Nazis during the Second World War. Traumatized and orphaned, both emotionally and literally, they made their way to Israel and other places in the world. Sadly, many are still alone today. Abundant Hope International (AHI) is making a difference in the lives of these special people who are so close to the Heart of Adonai. Through visitation, Survivor Adoption, volunteering and educational programs, Survivors of the Shoah are receiving the hugs, kisses and love they so desperately need. Survivors are dying at the rate of one every thirty minutes in Israel; time is short. AHI is working quickly to relieve the suffering of loneliness among the last of the Survivors. We trust the God of Abraham, Isaac and Yacov. HaShem loves these sweet Survivors even more than we do. We trust their own Messiah will speak to them as we bring our offerings of love, without conditions. We need more hands and feet to go and embrace them. We welcome you to join us.

Who We Are

History: In January 2004, the heart of our work began with visits to 38 Holocaust Survivors living in the Negev. We brought them Welcome Bags filled with gifts and practical items, flowers for their birthdays, small gifts from visitors, and we continued our visitation on a weekly basis. We started our Adopt a Survivor program, which connects giving, loving families from many different countries with Holocaust Survivors. Realizing our need to establish a base of operations in spring of 2007 we established Beit Shalom Hospitality House in Akko, a fascinating city and the world's oldest seaport. Here we set up an office, storage for donated items, we hold gatherings and provide lodging for both guests and volunteers. Our reason for being here is for the Survivors of the Holocaust. We provide assistance, relationship, birthday flowers and cards, personal services and renovations in their homes. Through an Adoption Program we facilitate people around the world writing to Survivors here. We translate their letters and help establish a relationship. This opened up a new relationship as those who were writing came to see them face-to-face. Volunteers from around the world join us and have amazing opportunities to give help and share their heart with the Survivors. We also feel education is critical, seeking to teach of the Holocaust and those who survived through teaching, media and speaking. Without the partnerships we have established over the years, with both individuals and organizations, the light we see in the Survivors' faces would not be there today. We cherish each and every gift of time and love and financial commitment we have received through your generous hearts. You Can Help! Please help us continue our work. Become a volunteer, donate, or supply gifts to people who need to know we care. The Survivors are dying one every thirty minutes. Their time is short. Don't wait until it is too late.
