Action in Africa

Action in Africa was started by two high school students and their history teacher. After seeing a short film about child soldiers in Uganda, they decided to start a club that would raise money and awareness for nonprofits working throughout Africa. Now 8 years later Action in Africa has its own programs and projects based in a small village in Uganda. Our past projects include a community library, two dormitories, a widows shelter, a new home for an individual widow, a kitchen and well for our partner primary school, and an income generating chicken coop for HIV positive widows. In January 2015, Action in Africa opened its very first public community facility called The Center. The Center acts as a place for children, adults and schools in the village to Be, Belong, and Become. At The Center we have a free public library and a communal space for people to come to read and work. Monday through Friday we offer creative programming for children (music, dance, storytelling, poetry, drama, etc.) and English classes for adults.
