ARMAND BAYOU NATURE CENTER INC
Houston, Texas
Our Mission
Armand Bayou Nature Center (ABNC) protects the last remaining undeveloped bayou waterway and surrounding natural habitat in Houston metropolitan area, providing public access for environmental education and outdoor activity.
Who We Are
Founded in 1974, ABNC remains one of the largest urban wilderness preserves in the United States, protecting over 2500 acres of rare coastal prairie, forest and bayou, and over 370 species of wildlife once common on the Texas Gulf Coast. ABNC is bordered by NASA Johnson Space Center, University of Houston Clear Lake, and the Pasadena petrochemical Industrial District, demonstrating that collaborative resource management allows nature to remain part of a vibrant economy and robust community quality of life.
