Cincinnati, Ohio

Our Mission

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati serves children in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. The agency pairs adult volunteer mentors with children who can benefit from having a positive role model. Volunteers are asked to commit to a one-year friendship with the child, with most pairings lasting much longer. 99% of the children in our program are in school, not involved with the juvenile justice system and not pregnant or parenting.

Who We Are

Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs adult volunteers with children facing adversity, who can benefit from having a positive role model. The Big Brothers Big Sisters movement began in Cincinnati more than 100 years ago, when businessman Irv Westheimer began mentoring a young boy, and encouraged his colleagues and friends to do the same. We partner with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving: • Higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships • Avoidance of risky behaviors • Educational success This type of professionally-supported, long-term, one-to-one mentoring is proven to be successful.
