Cambiando Vidas is a U.S.-based non-profit working with international build teams and local communities to build safe, affordable, storm-resistant housing in the Dominican Republic.
Who We Are
Cambiando Vidas – “Changing Lives†in English – was founded in 2007 to bring people from different cultures together to work on a single project. Our goal is to show volunteers – from both the Dominican Republic, where we build, and the United States, where we draw most of our workers – that it is possible to do the seemingly impossible: to build a house, foundation through roof through first meal cooked in the home, in a single week. The homes are the manifestation of a philosophy – that cultures can not merely find common ground, but can create it through challenging, risk-taking, problem-solving work.
