Who We Are

The CEC is a faith-based non-profit agency serving Tarrant County families in crisis by providing the resources, tools and encouragement families need to improve their lives, move out of poverty and into self-sustainable and sufficient lives. Formed in 1988, the CEC first started as a ministry of The Hills Church of Christ that offered groceries to low-income individuals and families. Today, the CEC is a stand-alone 501c3 that provides help to those in poverty including homeless families, victims of domestic violence, seniors, unemployed, single-parent homes, and individuals lacking education and/or job skills. Among the services provided to impoverished individuals and families are: food and income support, financial coaching, counseling, employment and education services. These resources and services help individuals to improve income potential through education and job skills training. We also provide services for seniors including food and isolation prevention opportunities. All of these programs are for the families in Tarrant County. The CEC is currently implementing agency-wide Integrated Service Delivery Model. This model will move all programs from silos of case-management to fully integrated services which will provide our participants stronger, more united support through Income Support, Employment Coaching and Financial Coaching. Upon completion, the CEC will have a well-designed organizational structure that effectively serves our participants and teaches essential life skills that provide them with the tools for long-term stability and success. This model, depicted below, will have defined roles, responsibilities and staff composition to allow optimum effectiveness in coaching participants through a continuum of services interwoven to produce the best opportunities to successfully achieve sustainable self-sufficiency.
