Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County

Although it is just outside of New York City, Fairfield County has a strong and varied arts and culture sector of its own and is a community rich in creativity and ingenuity. The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County was formed in 2008 out of the nonprofit sector's need for an agency that would act as a unified voice for arts and culture throughout the region, much like the Hartford area's Greater Hartford Arts Council. The Cultural Alliance champions a future in which: there are adequate resources to enable arts and cultural organizations and artists to flourish; business leaders understand that the creative economy is a key contributor to the community's economic prosperity, effective education and a civil society; information about cultural opportunities throughout the region is easily accessed by citizens; and Fairfield County as a whole is viewed as a cultural destination. The Cultural Alliance currently has more than 315 members comprised of nonprofit cultural organizations, individual artists, and creative businesses. The population served includes all 933,000+ citizens in Fairfield County and those beyond since the Cultural Alliance also promotes the wide breadth of arts and culture available to all residents and tourists.
