Our Mission

The Domestic Violence Council is the only nonprofit organization in Douglas County, Nebraska that unites people, services and systems to end intimate partner violence. Through collective impact, public policy advocacy, community safety assessments, and a training institute for professionals, we work to ensure that every person who reaches out for help will find it.

Who We Are

We want you to be able to find the most current and comprehensive information on addressing and ending domestic and sexual violence. Since its inception in 1996, the Domestic Violence Council (DVC) (formerly known as the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council (DVCC) has worked tirelessly to end of domestic violence. You'll hear more from us in the very near future about ending sexual assault as it overlaps in so many ways with domestic violence, or intimate partner violence. You'll hear more about prevention efforts. We aim to coordinate our civil and criminal justice systems and service provider systems to most effectively serve people who are impacted by these crimes the most. Our people, staff, board members, Community Response Team members, are all passionate about ending the violence. We value leveraging community resources in ending this violence. Our vision is to be the trusted, collaborative force to end relationship abuse through awareness, intervention and prevention.
