Giraffe Heroes Project, Inc.

The Giraffe Heroes Project is a global NGO that since 1982 has been moving people to stick their necks out for the common good, and giving them tools to succeed. GHP’s strategy is as simple as it is timeless. The Project tells the inspiring stories of men, women and youth who are already sticking their necks out to help solve tough public problems. These “Giraffe Heroes“ are from over sixty countries and from all walks of life: journalists, businesspeople, athletes, artists, nurses, entrepreneurs, homemakers…. www.giraffe.org features over a thousand of their profiles. They’re on the front lines of social change but often toil in obscurity. They fight for the underdog, taking personal risks for their causes, hanging in there year after year, and not waiting for "them" to solve public problems. They’re fighting for sane climate policies, social justice, public health and safety, human rights, and much more. Others see and hear the stories of Giraffe Heroes and are inspired to take action too. Giraffe books, blogs, curricula, speeches, and trainings help them reach their goals. GHP was the brainchild of Ann Medlock, a writer, soon joined by John Graham, an adventurer and former US diplomat. Both have devoted second lifetimes to finding and honoring people who are sticking their necks out for the common good
