Hand in Hand American Friends of the Center for Jewish Arab Education in Israel

Hand in Hand was founded in Israel in 1997 in order to develop a network of integrated schools for Israeli Jewish and Israeli Arab Children. This is a project aimed at creating a viable new form of partnership and peace education between Arab and Jewish children, families, and communities in Israel. Arabs make up 20% of Israel's citizens and Jews 80%; yet these two communities lead highly segregated lives with young people especially, having little opportunity to meet one another and interact. Our schools in Israel are accredited and funded in part by the Israeli Ministry of Education and we work in collaboration with local municipalities as well.
