HEARTWORK

Isaiah 58:10 says "If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your light will become like the noonday." Heartwork is about empowering a generation to look beyond the consumer ways of our culture and consider a different story, helping them to discover their true destiny in God by finding freedom from the trap of self-focus. We aim to provide inspiration and opportunities for people to practice sacrificial giving that benefits orphans, widows, and those affected by extreme poverty. There is an unsettling paradox facing our world today. Globally, thousands die every day from starvation and preventable diseases, over 160 million orphans fight to survive, and human trafficking enslaves millions. Meanwhile, millions of us who claim to follow Christ indulge in a culture of self-focus and yet still struggle to find real happiness. We have so much, but instead of being content we can tend to be apathetic, addicted, striving, insecure, and lacking purpose. We need to open our eyes. God's prescription for this sickness in our world and in our own hearts lies in the truth of “spending ourselves.” True life is found by giving our lives away and true religion is caring for those in need. It's the way His Kingdom works. At Heartwork we call this “destiny rescuing destiny.” We've seen this message bring healing and hope to thousands of young people as they've sold their possessions, worked extra hours, and skipped out on everyday luxuries. At Heartwork, our hope is that this paradigm-shift sets people on a lifelong journey toward compassionate, sustainable-minded leadership and giving.
