Our Mission

To improve the level of dignity, education, opportunity and health for orphaned, abandoned, abused, and/or neglected and special needs children, single mothers, widows and families on the north coast of Honduras. This will be accomplished through programs designed to provide opportunity, education, hope and love as well as providing for the spiritual, physical, emotional, educational, medical, and recreational needs of underprivileged children, in our Children's Home (orphanage), marginalized rural communities, and in our Jungle School. We also strive to share the love of Jesus Christ everywhere we go through acts of kindness and love.

Who We Are

Helping Honduras Kids opened the Jungle School doors in February 2007. The school currently has 225 students in grades K-9th and is located on a steep jungle area near the lower Cangrejal River Watershed, called Herradura. There are 12 teachers and 11 classrooms. Some of the children attending this school walk two hours on slippery trails round trip or cross a river every day just to have the opportunity to get an education and go to school. Most of these children live in remote, isolated areas and face poor economic conditions. Their families rely mostly on agriculture crops and when the crops do poorly, most struggle to find food. We also run the Hogar de Amor or Home of Love, which is a Children's Home (orphanage) located in La Ceiba, Honduras. At any given time we have 20 children in our care, many of which have experienced traumatic physical or sexual abuse, neglect, or were simply abandoned prior to being welcomed into our care. It is a 24/7 labor of love and faith. Through encouragement, counseling, education, and prayer we are able to help these children grow up to be happy, healthy, and productive adults. Children attend church three times per week. Each child also attends our private elementary school (the Jungle School) or now attends high school. Help us by sponsoring a child at the Jungle School or Hogar de Amor and come volunteer with us. We need teacher assistants at the Jungle School and helpers at our Hogar de Amor.
