Our Mission

Hope for Haiti's Children (HFHC) is a faith-based organization supporting ten Haitian Christian schools and their communities and two Christian orphanages. Today there are over 1,300 children in Haiti who are able to attend school due to the generosity of our Child Education Sponsors - $36/month provides each child tuition, textbooks, a uniform, and an annual medical checkup. HFHC also supports two loving & nurturing orphanages in Haiti, one in the capital city of Port-au-Prince (72 children) and one outside of Thomazeau (10 children). Our Orphan Care & Daily Bread Sponsors ($60/month) give generously to meet the basic needs of these wonderful kids.

Who We Are

Hope For Haiti's Children® (HFHC) is a Christian, non-profit organization prayerfully launched in 1995 by Ken Bever, who still serves as President of HFHC. Ken labored, along with some highly dedicated volunteers, to establish an education program for Haitian children to receive a Christian education. That first year HFHC found sponsors for 12 students. Today, there are over 1300 children sponsored in ten different schools associated with churches of Christ in central and southern Haiti. Currently we are averaging 100 new students per year to the Child Education Sponsorship program. Crisis Relief efforts provide food staples to starving families, rebuild homes destroyed by natural disasters, and offer general assistance where needed. Also, on a case-by-case basis HFHC assists the schools with nutrition programs, water cisterns, and facilities repair and enlargement. Through the years, additional services and programs have been developed along with the Child Education Sponsorship Program: HFHC has constructed and continues to support two orphanages, one in Cazeau, Port-au-Prince (2015- 72 orphans) and one in Thomazeau (2015- 10 orphans) providing safe and loving care for children in need. There is also a full-time medical clinic servicing our sponsored children in Port-au-Prince, which is funded primarily through HFHC. The January 2010 earthquake in Haiti left many HFHC-sponsored children and their families without homes, jobs, and schooling. In November 2010, HFHC adopted a long-term plan entitled Rebuilding Hope 2020. Jointly developed by HFHC's Haitian and U.S. Staff in conjunction with other non-profit organizations, this plan provides a permanent and sustainable approach to restore these families and strengthen HFHC-affiliated schools. Rebuilding Hope 2020 includes the creation of an Earthquake Relocation Community in Mission Cross where orphans, homeless mothers, and displaced families can start new lives of hope. It also includes support for the infrastructure necessary to Nurture, Educate, and Train future leaders. Several Rebuilding Hope 2020 initiatives target development programs for the HFHC Hope Center located outside the city of Thomazeau. These include a yearly build-on/expansion for the new Thomazeau Christian Elementary School, expansion of the orphanage, and a Training Assembly area as well as organic/sustainable gardens and goat/chicken pens.
