In Judges 6-8, we read the story of how Gideon and his small band of three hundred men stood against the powerful, Midianite army. The Midianites were oppressing the people of God, destroying their crops, animals, and their very livelihood. “Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites”. (Judges 6:6) In the midst of it all, God tells Gideon to assemble an army. Through Divine selection, Gideon's army was trimmed down to only three hundred. In spite of their small number, God gave them the victory. God wasn't interested in the largest army, He simply wanted three hundred men…who believed. Like Gideon's Army we are surrounding the enemies of Hunger, Homelessness, and Hopelessness in the country of Uganda, Africa. In 2014, a magnificent vision became reality as we experienced the completion of the first housing unit for a new orphanage in Soroti, Uganda. In a country ravaged by devastating diseases and rebel attacks, thousands of children have been orphaned and left homeless with no hope for the future. Hope Missions Intl. has purchased land and begun development on a children's orphanage complex. The first two units have been completed and expansion plans have already been set in motion. It our goal to rescue as many children as possible and provide care and shelter for them. Modeled after the Biblical model of caring for the widows and orphans (James 1:27), Hope Missions Intl. has carefully selected qualified widows to be the personal caretakers of the children. In this way, we are reaching down to the "least of these" in Africa and providing for their needs.
