KIND empowers women and girls so that can power the development of healthy communities, functioning democracies and inclusive economies across the continent of Africa. Our strategies are simple and straightforward - We train, mentor and campaign for women and girls to go into and be heard in the spaces that matter in their lives, whether it is within their families or at their schools, in their communities or in the governing institutions in their country. Through our programs, they learn to take responsibility for their bodies, for their financial well-being, for solving their problems and for realizing their dreams. Gender equity and the emergence of safe, secure and happy places for all are the goals that drive our work, inspired by Kudirat Abiola, a Nigerian woman and activist who was killed in 1996 by the Nigerian military government because of her efforts to promote democracy. Success occurs every day as the girls and women we train and support make choices that reflect their self-love in the face of countless messages that tell them that they don't matter, and as they come out of the limited spaces they inhabited to claim their rights and sow seeds of change. Women and girls matter. Indeed, at KIND we believe that any society that ignores them has no future.
