The LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center (formerly Prairie Advocacy Center) is a nationally accredited Child Advocacy Center located in Topeka, Kansas. Child abuse is a multifaceted community problem. Our philosophy is no single agency, individual or discipline has all the knowledge, skills or resources to serve the needs of child victims and their family members. These littlest victims of crime, and their non-offending family members, face an emotional challenge in telling their story and seeking help. LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center represents a child-friendly, safe place where these children can be heard and understood and the healing process can begin. The representatives, brought together by LifeHouse, work together to conduct joint forensic interviews and make team decisions about the investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of child abuse cases. These disciplines include law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy. LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center believes that the combined wisdom and professional knowledge of those from different disciplines results in a more complete understanding of case issues and the most effective, child and family-focused system response. Above all, LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center is focused on helping kids be kids again.
