Our Mission

We are the major source of private support to the LAFD. Founded in 2010, we provide direct grants to the fire department for the many items not included in the city budget. With 97% of the department's budget applied to salaries and benefits, the needs are great.

Who We Are

Founded in 2010, the LAFD Foundation relies on donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations to provide funding for essential items for the Los Angeles Fire Department. Every 36 seconds a unit of the LAFD rolls out to save lives and to protect property, with 85% of their calls being for medical emergencies and rescues. The equipment the foundation provides enables the department to deliver the highest level of service to the people of Los Angeles. In addition to supporting department-wide initiatives such as flashlights, brush helmets, and the department's web site, we also provide support for individual fire stations and specialized units such as Arson, Dive Team, USAR K9 Team, Bike Medics, and Air Operations.
