Who We Are

Mavuno empowers villagers to end extreme poverty in eastern Congo. We work in rural villages, mobilizing and training community leaders to create their own solutions to the problems of extreme poverty â€“ agriculture, education, health, sanitation, and more. People before projects. A lot of nonprofit organizations are known for their projects: drilling wells, distributing food or shoes, providing microloans. Mavuno is different. We focus on people. Our 5-step process is designed to harness the leadership of local villagers and empower them to create their own solutions to extreme poverty. So our work looks different in every village, but our process remains the same.
