Who We Are

Nashville Prevention Partnership Announces PENCIL Partnership with Cane Ridge High School's Academy of Arts and Communication Nashville, Tennessee (July 27, 2015) – Nashville Prevention Partnership (NPP), a leading nonprofit substance abuse prevention organization, today announced a new Academy Partnership with the Academy of Arts and Communication at Cane Ridge High School. This partnership is through the PENCIL Foundation and will further provide a platform for the representation of Nashville youth voice. “I'm very excited about partnering with Cane Ridge High School,” said NPP Executive Director, DeWayne Holman. “NPP will help provide a platform for students to use their classroom experience to learn more about video production.” Starting in August 2015, NPP will collaborate with Cane Ridge High School's staff and teachers to facilitate communication and media production learning opportunities. NPP will support the Academy of Arts and Communication with its expertise in youth engagement and provide resources essential to the process and planning of multi-media production. Additionally, NPP will offer academic support and career preparation for students through hands-on experiences outside the classroom, as well as internships and job shadowing opportunities. “There is plenty of potential for this partnership to blossom. I would like to see the students and faculty bring their passion to tackle community and public health issues in a magazine style show, in which the students will be able to interview some of Nashville's leaders to see how to improve our community,” said Holman. NPP realizes that a strong public school system is essential to Nashville's future. NPP is committed to the new partnership, and believes that by working together with the PENCIL Foundation, it can provide Cane Ridge High School with the necessary resources to meet the needs of their students.
