Chicago, Illinois

Our Mission

New Beginnings Recovery Homes Inc. is the “parent agency” for New Beginnings Shared and Permanent Housing. This agency has worked on the South and Westside of Chicago with socially liable populations (HIV+/AIDS Impacted Individuals, Chemically Dependent, Moderate Mentally Ill, Sex Offenders and Non-Sex Offenders) for the past 20 years. We have also worked with the Illinois Department of Corrections (5 year contract for sex offenders), Department of Corrections (Probation Department), Department of Children and Family Services ( Juvenile Court – We’ve helped men and/or women to hold onto their children or to get their children out of the court system).

Who We Are

New Beginnings Transitional Housing began 22 years ago as New Beginnings Recovery Homes with a single idea. Where can persons who are deemed “socially liable” receive short or long-term assistance as a means of remaining off the city's streets and away from the criminal enterprises, jails and the penitentiary. These persons are homeless, penniless, ex-offender, HIV positive/AIDS Impacted, chemically dependent and/or mentally ill etc. Most of these persons are subcategories of more than one grouping. New Beginnings provides shared and permanent housing, food, clothing, social, supportive and case management services. Clients receive medical and psychiatric attention and medication through Saving Lives (Psych Group Therapy), DMJ and Mid America Home Healthcare ( Homebound Medicare Individuals) and Advance Medical Equipment for medical equipment. These are services that we either provide or refer clients. We help these men to acquire state identification cards and gainful employment. We also help these men to obtain gainful employment and move into temporary or permanent housing. New Beginnings designed a program to provide an array of social, supportive and case management services to this particular clientele. Our holistic “continuum of care” concept was designed to take our hardcore society's “throwaways” and make them into positive, productive citizens through peer support groups, outpatient counseling by licensed agencies, transitional housing and gainful employment
