Of One Accord Ministry

Of One Accord Ministry began in 1988 in the bedroom of a home and has grown through God's direction to become one of the larger Appalachian Ministries. Of One Accord serves in the Appalachian Mountains and low income counties of Hawkins and Hancock in East Tennessee. Hancock is the lowest income county of Tennessee and the lowest income counties in the US. Average income for clients is below $600 monthly. There is no industry base, no United Way, no Red Cross. We are the emergency organization. Of One Accord is an example that God is still at work and miracles still happen. With just two fishes and a few loaves, Jesus fed 5,000. We see miracles of this type regularly. We operate: 3 Emergency Food Pantries, 2 Thrift Stores, 1 Free Medical Clinic, 1 Senior Meals Programs, 2 Summer Feeding Programs 1 County-wide Christmas program 1 Drug Recovery Program. Host for Mission Teams: We host as many as 40 churches who come on mission to do home repair, sports camps, distributions, medical and dental programs and provide many other community services. OOA provides the primary Christmas program for Hawkins County including providing Christmas boxes throughout the county. It is working towards a "Back to Work" program and a "skills training program" offering hands up services as well as hands out. The ministry also does a Global Missions Effort- Charlie Price in 2001 began traveling and found several places in the world where there were local churches, but they had no support. They had children starving and dying all around them, but no money to help. Charlie started a separate program to fund these foreign pastors in 7 different nations. Dr. Bill Sawyers is now the Global Missions Director. Dr. Sawyers was himself a missionary in Argentina for 25 years and now is building support for those missions supported through Of One Accord
