Omiyo
North Manchester
Our Mission
Omiyo means Give in the Acholi language of our Ugandan artisans. That's why we exist: To give artisans a market for their work, to give kids in their communities a better education, and to give you access to fun and stylish products you won't find anywhere else!
Who We Are
Omiyo is a small organization that works primarily in northern Uganda, an area recovering from a devastating civil war and the Aids epidemic. In an area where dependence on foreign aid has become an addiction, and where unemployment is over 65%, we believe job creation is an important first step. Our fair trade business provides work for fifteen rural women. But the need for education is immediate, so we provide educational support for seventy orphans and vulnerable children. We have a sponsorship program, supplemented by the sale of our handcrafted products.
