Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons

Our Mission
The Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) is a strategic response to the need for surgeons in Africa. We are a non-denominational, multinational service organization training African physicians to become general surgeons who are willing to remain in Africa to meet that need.
Who We Are
What if you needed surgery and there were only a handful of surgeons for an entire country? While in most of the developed countries, that is unheard of, in many African countries, that is the painful reality.
PAACS was created to answer this need by training African physicians to become surgeons, to care for the sick and suffering in Africa and to disciple African surgical residents to be witnesses of Jesus Christ.
How We Do This:
Training is offered at several well-established evangelical mission hospitals in Africa. Under the direction of experienced, board certified missionary surgeons, our residents commit to a Christ-centered-five-year residency program that includes:
• Clinical and academic study
• Spiritual and ethical training
• Direct supervision of pre-operative and
post-operative care
• Supervised, hands-on operating room training
• Training in clinical research
• Annual in-service examinations
• Study of the Bible
Our Current PAACS Programs:
9 General Surgery Training Programs
1 Orthopedic Surgery Training Program
1 Pediatric Surgery Training Program
Our Goal:
To train 100 African surgeons by 2020. As of 2015, we have trained and graduated 64 African surgeons. Our hope is to change the spiritual and physical health of a continent.
