People Empowering People (PEP) Africa: is an initiative which actively involves young people and empowers them with skills and tools needed to create POSITIVE change in communities. Accredited in 2003 as a Cameroon based Non-Governmental, Non-Profit, Apolitical and a Public Charity Organization ,PEP Africa is committed for the development youth, irrespective of their gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, color, creed, cast, class or ethnicity.
PEP Africa work with development stakeholders to support a wide-range of youth-led initiatives; from innovative to experiential projects that build leadership, provide better healthcare and increase knowledge about the environmental. This done using the “Rights Base Approach “ addressing issues that undermines their fundamental rights and freedom of young people; access to sexual reproductive health services, access to opportunities. PEP Africa is engaging with young people as equal partners by providing opportunities for them to meaningfully participate in public life as advocates, researchers, volunteers, community developers, peer educators, trainers, entrepreneurs, teachers, young leaders, expand and reinvigorate policies and programs to meet the needs of youths. We also offer first-hand opportunities to encourage cross-cultural exchange for North-South cooperation for young professionals around the world.
Since 2002, PEP Africa have reached 66,000 young people through her services and programs ; the “Heart Connection Tour” HIV/AIDS education in schools, created many agents4change with the first ever dance4life program, distributed condoms, train youths through our personal development Team programs to help gain key workplace skills and confidence, involved many young people explore and test their ideas, write plans and start their own projects or achieve alternative outcomes in education, training, volunteering or work. PEP Africa is providing many young people with ongoing mentor support as part of the leadership programs, intensive training and experience across the non-profit sector through her “Get Into” and “Get Started” programs; engaging many youth in sports and arts, bread production, performing arts, sewing, hair dressing, agriculture and boosting self-esteem, providing skills for social inclusion.
PEP Africa works with many operational and strategic partners; these include delivery partners such as Universities, colleges, schools , networks, coalitions, social welfare services, companies, Public security service, and organizations offering alternatives education for young people.
PEP Africa has successfully contributed and participated meaningfully in several International Conferences and Summits adding the voices of youth. this includes but not limited to ; RIO-20 Climate Change summit, AIDS2010 Vienna, AIDS2012 Washington, dance4life International 2010 and 2012, African Youth Submit -Bamako 2005, Abuja2003-Deceleration, 2010 UNGRASS review -High level summit NY, Copenhagen2014- Climate Change, COP21 Climate Change -Paris, Post2015 Youth input in the SDGs Kenya 2014.
