Progressive Agriculture Foundation

Interested communities and individuals complete an application to conduct a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® program. Progressive Agriculture Foundation® staff review applications to select the programs to be funded. The number selected annually is based upon funds available for the fiscal year. One representative from each selected community attends an in-depth, two-day training seminar conducted by the Progressive Agriculture Foundation®. Training takes place in fall and winter at multiple sites throughout the United States and Canada. They receive information and resources needed to conduct a Safety Day program. Our national sponsors pay for the cost of this training. Each representative returns to their community and coordinates local volunteers to plan and conduct the Safety Day program, which usually takes place between March and October. Each program is structured around specific safety and health concerns of their agricultural community. Our educational programs are community-oriented events. We provide people with a common purpose and a sense of belonging to their community. Time and time again, volunteers are asked why they give their time to a charitable cause such as ours. The overwhelming response is that volunteering gives them a sense of community, gives them purpose and provides direction in their lives. Our sponsors fund the following: in-depth training on how to conduct a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® program, insurance for each community, specially-designed T-shirts for all participants, take-home bags for safety and health literature, contacts for obtaining products and educational materials to distribute at their events, signs to promote and identify the event site and assistance in promotion.
