Qi Yuan Day

Qi Yuan (pronounced "Chee-U-En") means “beginning” or "origin" in Mandarin. The Chinese symbol that makes up our logo simply means “day.” We use this language because the Chinese have for millennia dated a person’s age from Day One -- adjusted for the vagaries of the Chinese calendar. Qi Yuan Day simplifies this by ascribing a date to each person. Our goal is to educate and inspire all people to celebrate their beginning. In China, a baby is considered one year old at birth. We like that thinking! So, we began celebrating our Day One. Through biological, medical and scientific advances of the last century, humanity has learned that life begins at fertilization. Ultrasound images of children in the womb have helped prove this. Qi Yuan Day is a celebration of this day! We believe the date a person's life started is even more important than their birthday, because it acknowledges the importance of pre-born children and unborn children as well. We want to help everyone discover this date, so our website features an easy-to-use Qi Yuan Day calculator. To encourage engagement, we provide resources and sell unique celebration cards on our website so people can implement Qi Yuan Day into their daily lives with friends and family. Your donations will go to funding campaigns to expand our organization and promote greater awareness of this day, which will lead to implementation of Qi Yuan Day celebrations in schools, families, and businesses. We hope to also partner with pregnancy centers, which can use Qi Yuan Day as a way to invite pregnant women pondering difficult decisions to become educated and understand there is life within them.
