QUEST COUNSELING & CONSULTING

Reno, Nevada

Our Mission

Quest Counseling and Consulting, Inc. opened its doors in January 2003, is incorporated as a not-for-profit company in the State of Nevada, and received its 501 (c) (3) status from the IRS in 2004. Quest Counseling provides outpatient evidence based therapy for adults and adolescents with substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders; individual and family counseling; presentations and workshops; community prevention programs; Felony DUI and Diversion Court Programs for adults (including a co-occurring disorders program for Reno Municipal Court and a Re-entry Program in conjunction with the 2nd Judicial District Court); a transitional living program for adolescent males ages 13 to 17 (Quest House); and comprehensive substance use and mental health evaluations. Many of Quest Counseling’s services are available in English and Spanish.

Who We Are

In 2005, Quest Counseling's clinical programs became certified by the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse (now the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Agency (SAPTA) in the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services in the Division of Public and Behavioral Health). These programs include two programs for adults and: • Level I Outpatient for Adolescents • Drug Court for Adolescents • Level II.1 Intensive Outpatient for Adolescents • Level 1 Co-occurring Disorder Enhancement for Adolescents In 2006, four of Quest Counseling's staff engaged in an almost year long process to become certified Multi-Dimensional Family Therapists. (A master's degree is necessary to be trained in MDFT.) Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) is designated by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as an evidence-based treatment practice for adolescents with substance use disorder (SUD) or a co-occurring disorder diagnosis. In addition to these accomplishments, Quest Counseling has contracts with Washoe County Social Services, Washoe County Department of Juvenile Services, State of Nevada Vocational Rehabilitation, Victims of Crime, State of Nevada Youth Parole Bureau, and the Welfare Division (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families). Besides the outpatient services, Quest also operates a transitional living facility (Quest House) which is licensed by Washoe County as a Specialized Foster Home. The clients live at Quest House, are transported to the Quest outpatient office for individual, group and family counseling every weekday morning then return to the house for lunch and online school in the afternoon. Because the majority of the clients do have co-occurring disorders (substance use disorder and mental health conditions), they might also see the psychologist or psychiatrist. Evenings are spent on chores and recreational activities. On weekends the kids go on outings that include visits to the Nevada Museum of Art, bowling, hikes, flag football, etc.
