Our Mission

Roots of Development’s vision is for a world in which the very communities living in poverty are the ones leading the fight against it; a world in which impoverished communities decide their own future and manage their own development.

Who We Are

Established in 2007, Roots of Development's mission is to support and promote a community-driven approach to development—an approach that is based on strengthening local capacity in order to improve the quality of life in marginalized communities. Our success is based on a community's ability to: 1. Represent, manage, and protect the interests of the local population 2. Recognize, mobilize, and organize local resources (both human and material resources) 3. Appropriately and effectively manage financial capital 4. Form strategic partnerships with local and non-local entities with resources that can help them achieve their goals 5. Design, execute, and maintain projects that provide basic services or essential infrastructure to the local population 6. Identify potential sources of revenue and turn them into sustainable income-generating business initiatives
