Rural Renewable Energy Alliance (“RREAL”) is a 501c3 with the mission of fighting energy poverty by making solar power accessible to communities of all income levels. As a non-profit solar design-build firm, RREAL has a strong track record for delivering solar energy to low-income communities, communities of faith, medical facilities and educational institutes. Staffed by a dedicated and talented team of engineers and project managers, RREAL is committed to ensuring that solar energy is safely and effectively deployed for global energy security and environmental stewardship. RREAL is pioneering a new model of low-income energy assistance in the United States by integrating solar into the federal program. Rather than simply paying low-income families' energy bills, RREAL is empowering low-income families with solar energy systems and modeling a fiscally responsible and environmentally appropriate solution to low-income energy poverty. Our Leech Lake installation is the first 100% low income community solar garden in the nation! We are also committed to fostering an inclusive work force and invite members from the communities we serve to participate in our solar energy installations through hands-on experiential learning. In so doing, the alliance is creating long-term economic and workforce development opportunities for low-income communities across the globe. RREAL is working tirelessly to raise awareness of the importance of switching to renewable energy to help protect the environment. Since its inception in 2000, we have powered over 500 low-income households with renewable energy free of charge. Aside from working in low-income communities in the US, we are also helping the disadvantaged in West Africa. RREAL is creating better health outcomes by delivering solar micro-grids to the health care sector in the Global South. RREAL designs, builds and commissions solar energy arrays that power hospitals 24/7 to ensure doctors and nurses have the power and light needed to serve their communities. Our most recent project that we are fundraising for is Current for Curran, a hospital in Liberia. The Rural Renewable Energy Alliance now supports more than 17 full-time staff and is partnering with organizations across the country through a variety of programs to make solar energy more accessible to everyone. One of our latest partnerships is with the Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity. RREAL and Habitat teamed up to make clean energy and home ownership more affordable to a local Habitat for Humanity homeowner. The 3.9-kilowatt array installed by RREAL will save the Jensens more than $600 in energy bills every year and offset 2 tons of coal going into the air, lakes and land, the release stated.
