Settlement Housing Fund, Inc.

Since 1969, Settlement Housing Fund has developed 57 projects with over 8,700 apartments –rentals, cooperatives, and two-family houses – that are home to more than 25,000 low- and middle-income residents, including a substantial number of formerly homeless people. Through affiliates, the organization currently owns 29 buildings containing 1,676 units, with its largest concentration of housing and programs in the Mt. Eden section of the southwest Bronx, in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and in the Two Bridges Redevelopment Area on the Lower East Side. We actively partner with other developers and the City to pursue new construction and housing preservation projects, and whenever possible we incorporate commercial and community space for neighborhood amenities and programs into our development plans. Through this work, Settlement Housing Fund has helped transform once blighted sections of the city into strong neighborhoods where families choose to stay and young people can take advantage of education and wellness opportunities they would not have had before.
