Spirit Peers for Independence & Recovery

Our organization focuses on individuals who have experienced Mental Health Challenge in their life time. SPIRIT Peers for Independence and Recovery was founded by community members that were facing challenges with their mental health in 1995. They formed a group and starting doing peer support to others that were facing similar challenges. The group got their 501(c)3 and formed a drop in center. The organization was formed with all volunteers. They put together a Peer Support Manual and began doing training's for others that wanted to volunteer in Peer Support. In 2005 we started to receive money from the Mental Health Service Act funding prop 63 and were able to start to employ peer's to do peer support.
