TheHopeLine is the Rescue arm of the Dawson McAllister Association. Our vision is to see people released from despair. We reach our audience through radio programming and our website, www.thehopeline.com. As we engage them we strive to rescue them from despair induced by circumstances. In our interactions we attempt to perform spiritual, physical and emotional triage, thereby understanding how best to serve them. We hope to be a moral GPS providing clear thinking and right values to those we serve. Aiding them in making the next right decision. Finally, through our partner organizations, we seek to restore them by connecting them with services designed to meet their need.
We have been serving teenagers and young adults (13-29) via online one on one chat and telephone calls since 1991. TheHopeLine was founded by Dawson McAllister. Dawson, who has been speaking to and on behalf of teenagers and young adults for over 40 years, continues his ministry to teens and young adults through his nationally syndicated radio shows DMLive airing on secular Top40 stations and TheHopeline with Dawson McAllister, which airs on Christian stations. He also has online music and talk streams accessible at www.dawson247.com.
TheHopeLine is the rescue arm of the ministry. However, over the past 10 years we have grown the ministry to support other organizations, ministries, music artists, bands, movies and partners. We have been called, "the go to organization for reaching and helping teens and young adults in trouble."
We engage our callers and online chatters in our C.O.A.C.H. model of discussion. We show "Concern" by listening and empathizing with their situation, always encouraging and supporting them. We "Observe" and listen for key words that speak of abuse, addiction, assault, suicidal tendencies and more. In our discussion and encouragement, without quoting scripture at them, we "Apply" biblical truth to their situation and how to move past it. This is done while "Challenging" their belief that they are beyond help, unloved and hopelessly without support. Finally, we offer them the step toward "Healing" by offering connections to faith-based partners equipped and prepared to provide longer term care in their specific area of need.
We are avaialable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Though we deal with far more than suicide and abuse, In 2013 we intervened in 2600 suicides and reported 1,000 cases of sexual and physical abuse, in 2014 we intervened in 3,003 suicides and made 1460 reports. Our services continue to be in demand. To be clear, we are faith based, but we seek to meet the felt need of those that are contacting us for help, support and rescue. If we are able to have a spiritual conversation, we will, but we will never force this on any caller or chatter and if they are not interested, we move on.
In 2015 we expect to complete over 40,000 interactions and though most of our interactions are with those in North America, our international reach continues to grow and we have served individuals in over 130 countries.
