THOMAS JEFFERSON EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COUNCIL INC

TJEMS is a non-profit, tax exempt organization. It is an integral part of the EMS system whose function is to assess, identify, coordinate, plan and implement an efficient and effective regional EMS delivery system in partnership with the Virginia Office of EMS and the Virginia EMS Advisory Board. We provide a wide range of services and programs that support our region's first responders as well as help them provide quality patient care. The Thomas Jefferson Emergency Medical Services Council covers the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and the City of Charlottesville (Planning District 10) and Madison County (Planning District 9) in Central Virginia. We also work closely with the EMS agencies in Orange and Buckingham counties. With over thirty five EMS agencies, the Council enjoys an excellent working relationship with it's two hospitals, the University of Virginia Medical Center (Level 1 Trauma Center) and Martha Jefferson Hospital. The UVa Pre-hospital Program provides for initial ALS certification programs, ALS continuing education, and constant "run review" for all agencies within the region.
