UNDERGROUND RAILROAD INC

The Underground Railroad, Inc. (URR) was incorporated in 1977 to provide shelter and services for victims of domestic violence. In 1977, we were staffed entirely by volunteers, and funded solely by area churches and individual donors. In our 38 years of operation, the organization has grown from offering shelter and crisis hotline services to providing extensive programs to all residents of Saginaw County who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or human trafficking. We are a recognized leader in our community's effort to end violence against women. We operate from three main sites in Saginaw County, and our services now include walk-in counseling, support groups, emergency response on-call program for police and hospitals, criminal justice advocacy, supervised visitation/safe exchange, transitional supportive housing, permanent housing for victims with disabilities, K-12 prevention programs, Girls on The Run, and our Paws4Hope pet shelter program.
