Our Mission

Founded over sixty years ago, United Nations Association of Greater Boston (UNA-GB) is dedicated to building understanding of and support for the ideals and work of the UN among the Greater Boston community. We serve as a resource on the broad agenda of critical global issues addressed by the United Nations and its agencies: peacekeeping, human rights, humanitarian relief, economic development, and education. As a chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA), we offer educational and public programs that emphasize and promote the work done to relating to the goals and programs of the United Nations. Daily operations are run by a small staff with support by an active Executive Committee that consists of Officers of the organization, a dedicated Board of Directors, and an Advisory Council.

Who We Are

For over 60 years, UNA-GB has brought insightful global affairs programs to Boston-area participants, now numbering over 5,000 annually.We organize more than two dozen community events each year, from luncheon presentations to networking nights to UN Day celebrations and an international gala with local diplomats and leaders. Our Model UN Program serves thousands of Massachusetts youth each year. We reached more than 4,000 students in almost 100 schools in both inner-city Boston and surrounding districts in the 2013-2014 academic year. We partner effectively with dozens of organizations and groups across diverse sectors in Boston, including local and national non-profits, NGOs, academic institutions, associations, companies and many more to work towards localizing the global ideals we all share.
