Our Mission

UNC is dedicated to assessing and meeting the needs of low-income families, youth, and senior citizens. UNC provides people with the tools needed to integrate into the community and attain self sufficiency. Crisis intervention, direct aid and general advocacy services are available to those most in need through a network of neighborhood centers.

Who We Are

UNC offers a broad range of programs and services from childcare to housing counseling, and homelessness prevention to senior centers, as well as providing basic needs such as food and clothing through Angel's Attic. By continually opening its doos to those who are most in need, UNC continues to embrace the settlement house vision and aids in the solution of problems at the neighborhood level. For more than 90 years, UNC has continued to embrace its mission and strengthen the community. UNC has annually served 36,000 hot meals to older adults, taught adults and families from 40 different countries to read and write, distributed over 1,700 Thanksgiving meals to families in need, helped 180 families keep their home, assisted individuals with their medical needs to navigate the complicated medical system, and provided 1260 hours of after school programming for area teenagers.
