Our Mission
World Wide Village is a Christian, non-profit organization serving the people of Haiti.
Who We Are
Sustainability is surreal to those caught in a decade old cycle of poverty, family dissolution, and poor education. However, WWV, a Christian non-profit organization, encourages the Haitian people that there is hope for now and for eternity. By advocating a community based approach, WWV empowers local leaders to implement creative solutions to aid in spiritual development and community enrichment through education, healthcare, agriculture and housing.
Haiti is about the size of Maryland, but is home to over 1.7 times as many people. It is the poorest people in the Western Hemisphere with 80 percent of Haitians living in poverty and only 52.9 percent of those over the age of 15 able to read and write. Because of past political corruption and misappropriation of resources, many Haitians continue to remain in extreme poverty and darkness throughout their lives.
In the midst of this severe situation, a group of Minnesotan entrepreneurs were challenged to put their faith into action. Their organization solidified in 2001 and the members pledged to help Haitian families by providing funds, resources, and expertise. Today World Wide Village partners with Haitians in bringing spiritual development and community enrichment to Haiti.
World Wide Village envisions a time when education will be widespread in Haiti, leading to knowledge and faith that will be a catalyst for the reestablishment of the family unit, healthy children, and economic stability. However, more than all of this, WWV prays that someday every Haitian will know Jesus.
