Who We Are

Big Brothers began in Racine and Kenosha in 1960. In 1984, our services were expanded to include girls. From the late 1970s through the early 1990s, the Kenosha program was known as “Kinship.” In 1996, the Kinship program of Kenosha affiliated itself with Big Brothers Big Sisters merging with the Racine program to become Big Brothers Big Sisters of Racine & Kenosha Counties Inc., as it is known today. Since beginning in 1960 when we served approximately 25 children in the local community, the program has grown to serve hundreds of children annually in southeastern Wisconsin. We provide a variety of outcome-based mentoring opportunities including Community Based Mentoring, School Based Mentoring and Faith Based Mentoring initiatives. We also have developed collaborative relationships with Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce, Racine Unified School District, Kenosha Unified School District, Mentor Kenosha Racine, and Love Inc. in Burlington, Wisconsin. Even though we are serving more children each year we continue to maintain a large waiting list of children who want a Big Brother/Big Sister. Please take the first step and inquire about the many volunteer opportunities that are available through Big Brothers Big Sisters on this website. We have a spot for you!
