Mision Isaias 55 along with partner school Instituto Isaias 55 provides education and holistic child development in Reynosa, Taumulipas, Mexico.

Who We Are

Despite its proximity to a country advanced in deaf education, Mexico remains one of the few countries that does not provide sign language interpretation in their public schools, does not have a deaf education major at the university level, and has, in recent years, promoted oralization over the use of sign language (and without accompanying success). Using sign language as a bridge to written Spanish, Instituto Isaias 55 teaches students language, computers, reading, writing, math, history, and physical education. Our students range from Pre-Kindergarten all the way through University studies. For those not wishing to attend university, we also provide vocational training in sewing, carpentry, and welding.
