Finding Freedom through Friendship, Inc.

Finding Freedom through Friendship, Inc., was established in 2009 to meet the critical housing, nutritional and educational needs of widowed mother's and their children in the villages of northwestern Guatemala. The chronic stress of poverty, illiteracy and high birth rates have created an acute need for support services for indigenous women in the highlands of this Central American country. Illiterate Mayan widows are the silent majority of occupants hidden in the mountain ranges of Guatemala, where social services are non-existent and maternal/child malnutrition is endemic.
